Job Summary

Capital Health is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our team in Acute Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care, work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals, and contribute to the development of patient care standards and policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform histories and physical examinations, ongoing patient assessments, and critical care procedures.
  • Participate in daily patient rounds with physicians, facilitate pre-operative and post-operative patient care.
  • Assist with admission work-ups and/or consults to facilitate care across the continuum.
  • Initiate, monitor, alter, and order treatments, including device placement, physical and occupational therapy, home health referral, and discharge planning.
  • Re-evaluate patients throughout hospitalization and modify plans of care as needed in collaboration with clinical staff.
  • Complete transfer of care notes when transferring patients to another medical service.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to the age and development of the patient.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for diagnosis and management of problems.
  • Complete wound assessments, initiate basic skin care orders, and order laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic studies.
  • Participate in the hospital Quality Improvement process.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program or Master's degree in advanced clinical practice or graduate of post Master's certificate program for nurse practitioner.
  • One-year experience working with primary care management or acute care preferred.
  • NJ Physician Assistant License or Advanced Practice Nurse – NJ License.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Standing.
  • Occasional physical demands include: Walking, Climbing, Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, reaching forward, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion, Talk or Hear.
  • Continuous physical demands include: Taste or Smell.
  • Lifting Floor to Waist 20 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 0 lbs.
