POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Aviation Training Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality ground and simulator flight instruction, adhering to aviation regulations and the training standards set by FlightSafety International.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are essential for effective performance in this role:
- Facilitate ground and simulator training sessions for clients enrolled in core, specialty, or enrichment training programs.
- Create and curate training materials that align with client needs and the established curriculum.
- Assess and monitor trainee progress, providing recommendations for qualification or additional training as necessary.
- Maintain precise training records for each client, supporting their journey towards achieving their objectives.
- Identify any training challenges faced by clients and seek assistance prior to training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements to maintain instructor qualifications.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willingness to participate in FlightSafety's DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
- Possession of an unrestricted ATP certificate or an equivalent Airline Transport Pilot License from an ICAO member state.
- If ATP is not held, must fulfill the requirements of 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
- A minimum of one unrestricted Pilot in Command (PIC) type rating.
- Preferred qualifications include experience with FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
- Preferred: At least 2,500 hours of total flight experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Understanding of aviation safety standards and practices.
- Familiarity with common aviation regulations.
- Capability to manage training sessions and deliver effective instruction.
- Basic facilitation and customer service skills.
- Openness to coaching and feedback for personal development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands for handling objects and controls, reach with hands and arms, and communicate verbally. The role may require standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
Physical capabilities include the ability to reach, apply pressure, and manipulate controls with both feet, as well as to operate various controls within the simulator from the instructor's chair. The employee must be able to enter and exit the simulator safely and navigate between instructional areas while delivering training.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
While performing job duties, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to various environmental conditions.
