Statewide Medical Director Job Description

VitalCore Health Strategies, a leading provider of correctional healthcare, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Statewide Medical Director to join our team in Lansing, Michigan.

The successful candidate will provide guidance, leadership, and oversight of all aspects of correctional medical care, including authorization of services, consultation to clinical operations, and overall clinical direction. This role requires a strong understanding of managed healthcare systems, medical quality assurance, quality improvement, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement clinical protocols, policies, and procedures
  • Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities for appropriateness, quality, and continuity of care
  • Supervise physicians and mid-level providers
  • Participate in staff and community education initiatives
Requirements:
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Michigan
  • Board Certification
  • Valid unrestricted DEA License
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Health (MPH), or Healthcare Administration (MHCA) preferred
