Job Summary

The Mental Health Technician plays a vital role in providing comprehensive care to children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital setting. As a key member of the treatment team, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse to ensure the highest level of patient care and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, ensuring a smooth and efficient process.
  • Monitor patients for verbal and non-verbal cues, identifying potential aggressive behaviors and intervening to de-escalate situations.
  • Report alterations in sensory perceptual images, recognizing the differences between illusions, delusions, and hallucinations, and taking action to prevent patient harm.
  • Communicate effectively with the Registered Nurse and other team members to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, promoting independent behavior and a therapeutic environment.
  • Follow hospital policies and procedures, and report any medical problems or concerns to the Registered Nurse.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Prefer a minimum of two years of college in areas of psychology, social work, mental health, and other related health fields.
  • Experience in dealing with the emotionally disturbed preferred.
