Position Overview:

This role is part of a paid work experience initiative designed to enhance job readiness and provide valuable training.

The program spans a duration of six months and includes comprehensive support services along with job placement assistance.

Participants will collaborate with municipal agencies and nonprofit organizations to foster a clean and appealing public space.


Program Objective:

The Downtown Cleaning Corps program aims to contribute to the beautification and upkeep of the designated urban area.

Team members will engage in various activities focused on maintaining cleanliness in the downtown region, including but not limited to, litter collection, waste disposal, plant care, graffiti eradication, and general maintenance tasks.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect and dispose of litter and waste from public areas, including streets and sidewalks.
  • Manage large outdoor waste bins, which may require lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Remove unwanted vegetation from public pathways and landscaped areas.
  • Address animal and human waste in public spaces.
  • Eliminate graffiti and stickers from public property.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks such as snow and leaf removal.
  • Engage with the public in a courteous and professional manner.

Qualifications:
  • Must possess the physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Exhibit professionalism and patience while interacting with the public during work hours.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
  • Adherence to uniform requirements is essential.
  • Availability for day, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, including potential overtime.
  • Ability to work independently and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment assessments, including substance screening and reference verification.
