Substance Abuse Intake Specialist

About the Role:
Clinica Romero seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Substance Abuse Intake Specialist to oversee all aspects of client entry into outpatient services for youth, adults, and prenatal services in both sites.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to recruit new clients, and meet expected outcomes in terms of new clients enrolling as a result of their efforts in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Provide and oversee the entire intake process for all programs, ensuring intakes meet Clinic/State and County requirements and meet goals for new incoming clients set by the Program Director.
- Screen calls for and schedule intake appointments.
- Call to follow up on appointments and replace no-shows with walk-ins and new appointments.
- Ensure incoming client/intakes and no-shows are reported to the Program Director.
- Work with QA staff to ensure all aspects of intake and initial treatment plans and case management are completed on time and billed for.
- Meet all timelines throughout the entire intake process.
- Assist with outreach to ensure outcomes are met monthly.
- Interview clients and family members to determine admission eligibility.
- Provide potential clients with Medical/MHLA benefits.
- Follow up with all referral sources and collect necessary required paperwork when needed.
- Make recommendations to the treatment staff team for client admissions.
- Develop a thorough, written diagnostic assessment that includes clients' addiction history, family history, mental health history, history of violence, and medical health history.
- Ensure clients meet outpatient level of care and refer out when Clinica does not provide the level of care needed.
- Schedule ongoing sessions with clients upon the first week of intake.
- Provide orientation for all new clients, ensuring they understand rules and requirements of the SUD program.
- Assist QA staff with completed/uploaded charts and make recommendations on client needs.
- Develop and write up a comprehensive initial treatment plan.
- Complete and review the intake packet to ensure all program, state, and county requirements are met.
- Process and upload all information into SAGE as necessary.
- Work with SAPC staff to ensure all information is included and meets program/state and county requirements.
- Assist in planning and seeking referrals for clients' transfer or termination.
- Document and conduct all case managements, individual/client and group notes to ensure billing is maximized.
- Maintain documentation on all applicants for outpatient treatment in accordance with Federal, State, County, and agency guidelines.
- Verify client eligibility and assist clients with Medical or MHLA benefits as needed.
- When clients do not return to treatment, responsible for no-shows and final discharge as directed by QA Staff or Program Director.
