Job Summary

The Cardiac Surveillance Technician plays a vital role in the healthcare team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to provide continuous cardiac surveillance for telemetry patients. This position requires effective communication and collaboration with physicians, staff, and responsible nurses to ensure high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides continuous cardiac surveillance for telemetry patients, maintaining effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team.
  • Maintains current knowledge and competency in rhythm and dysrhythmia identification, ensuring accurate and timely patient care.
  • Compiles and records data for patient records and unit purposes, promoting transparency and accountability.
  • Maintains safety in the use of all equipment, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Works cooperatively with co-workers and other departments to achieve organizational goals, orienting new staff to the CST function as needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience: Successfully completes EKG Arrhythmia test with a grade > 90% overall and 100% lethal arrhythmias within 90 days of hire. For on-call positions, must have six months recent telemetry monitoring experience.
  • Education: High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • License, Certification, Registration: Basic Life Support within 1 month of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous cardiac monitoring experience and/or successful completion of basic cardiac monitoring course.
  • Demonstrates ability to recognize and interpret cardiac dysrhythmias.
