CNC Operator Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled CNC Operator to join our team at QPS Employment Group. As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating CNC machines to manufacture high-quality parts and assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate CNC machines to machine parts and assemblies
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances using measuring devices and gauges
  • Set up and operate CNC mill to machine parts
  • Fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and mechanisms
  • Examine standard or previously used dies, tools, jigs, and fixtures, and recommend design modifications
  • Develop specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draw or sketch design of product
  • Maintain equipment through preventative maintenance
  • Create Gcode using CAM software (Mastercam) necessary to program CNC machines

Requirements:

  • Ability to talk, hear, see, and use hands/fingers to handle or feel
  • Ability to regularly walk or stand for long periods of time for up to 10 hours a day
  • Associates degree or equivalent from accredited college or technical school is preferred; or, four to six years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Reads, analyzes, and interprets repair manuals, blueprints, schematics, shop drawings, engineering notes, drawings, procedural manuals, and other mechanical reports
  • Works with mathematical concepts such as decimal equivalents, inference, and the fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
  • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Interprets written, oral, diagrammed, or schedule-form instructions
