Job Summary

Metropolitan Community College seeks a highly qualified individual to serve as the Dean of Instruction. This leadership position is responsible for directing campus instructional activities and providing oversight for the development and management of faculty and staff, budget, academic and support programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise division chairs, faculty, and staff, prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, and ensuring training and development.
  • Provide oversight and direct the implementation of instructional activities and academic support services and programs and operations, ensuring compliance with Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, codes, and/or standards.
  • Identify, promote, and support campus and college grants.
  • Prepare and administer budgets, preparing cost estimates for budget recommendations, submitting justifications for budget items, and monitoring and controlling expenditures.
  • Direct, lead, and develop community outreach initiatives, facilitating, leading, and supporting collaborative partnerships between the college and external service area entities to increase student enrollment and provide educational training and education opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison to employees, students, and external organizations, representing the college and/or District at a variety of meetings, public events, training sessions, on committees, on policy-making bodies, and/or other related events.
Requirements
  • Mastery of leadership principles, college administration principles and practices, curriculum development principles, licensing and accreditation rules and regulations, state regulating agencies, legislative processes, advanced principles and practices in assigned area of responsibility, public relations principles, budgeting principles, grant development, administration, and management principles, community agencies and resources, strategic planning principles, financial management principles, program development and administration principles and practices at a District-wide level, and applicable Federal, State, and local laws, rules, regulations, codes, and/or statutes.
  • Skilled in monitoring and evaluating subordinates, delegating and prioritizing work, preparing reports, directing major work operations, developing and implementing college policies and procedures, directing community outreach efforts, reading, comprehending, and reviewing financial information, making program decisions based on financial considerations, interpreting and applying applicable laws, rules, and regulations, analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, projecting consequences of proposed actions, and making recommendations in support of goals, conducting negotiations, handling multiple tasks simultaneously, providing customer service, preparing and managing grants, managing budgets, monitoring and evaluating programs, collaborating with external agencies, and utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
Working Conditions

Positions in this class typically require reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, with walking and standing required only occasionally.
