About the Unit

Gerber Med Surg is a 13-bed unit, with 4 observation beds and 9 inpatient beds. The unit is currently undergoing a refresh, with new paint, flooring, and artwork in the halls and patient rooms, as well as a new nurses station, breakroom, and staff bathroom. This unit is home to our largest patient population and is a cornerstone of the hospital. We offer telemedicine services in pulmonology, neurology, infectious disease, and wound care. Coming soon to Gerber are telemedicine palliative care services. We have MRI services 6 days a week, CT, fluoroscopy, general and orthopedic surgery, care management, and medical social workers all on site. Our goal is to provide high-quality care to our patients and support our team members in their roles.

Scope of Work

As a Registered Nurse on our Med Surg unit, you will be responsible for delivering nursing care that is safe, effective, and patient-centered. You will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, communicating effectively with patients and families, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required within 5 years.
  • MI Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within 90 days.
  • AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required within 6 months.
