Responsibilities:
- Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, including exams and procedures.
- Record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
- Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms, and order supplies as needed.
- Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
- Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
- Answer patient telephone calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist as needed.
- Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
- Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
- Perform other administrative duties, including typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception.
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
- 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
- Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Work Environment:
This position requires working in a fast-paced clinical environment, with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
