Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Texas Oncology. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our physicians and clinicians.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians and clinicians with patient care duties, including exams and procedures.
  • Record patient data, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
  • Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms, and order supplies as needed.
  • Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
  • Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
  • Answer patient telephone calls and refer to physician or nurse/pharmacist as needed.
  • Phone in prescriptions and make other patient calls as directed by physicians and RN.
  • Inform physician of patient reschedules and no shows.
  • Perform other administrative duties, including typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, and reception.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certificate of graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants preferred.
  • 0-3 years experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
  • Current BCLS certification required within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Medical Assistant preferred.

Work Environment:

This position requires working in a fast-paced clinical environment, with exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
