Job Summary

The US Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the Pharmacy Department at the Ft. Yates Indian Health Service Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in filling prescriptions, including typing, filling prescriptions in written and oral forms, and preparing and labeling the final product.
  • Operate and care for various pharmacy equipment, including Point of Sale software, and assist pharmacy staff in maintaining cleanliness of main pharmacy, pharmacy storage, and other drug storage areas.
  • Prepares sterile solutions in the pharmacy, interprets doctor's orders, obtains necessary ingredients, and prepares and labels the final product.
  • Orders and procures drugs, receives drug shipments, maintains pharmacy storeroom and hospital drug stocks, and properly stores drugs.
  • Enters the correct drug, strength, dosage form, and quantity into the patient's computerized medical chart and processes prescription claims through the Point of Sale software.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in pharmacy technology or a related field preferred.
  • At least one year of experience as a pharmacy technician or in a related field, with a strong understanding of pharmacy operations and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Point of Sale software and other pharmacy systems.
Working Conditions

The Pharmacy Technician will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and deadlines. The ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
