Stony Brook Medicine seeks a skilled Telemetry Technician to join our healthcare team. As a Telemetry Technician, you will be responsible for monitoring patients' cardiac rhythms and communicating any changes to nurses and physicians. You will also ensure that all monitoring equipment is in good repair and communicate with the biomedical department.

• Observe and interpret cardiac monitoring tracings from patients on telemetry and/or computerized monitoring systems.
• Describe and document the characteristics of ECG rhythms according to policy and procedure.
• Properly place leads and prepare skin for clear, readable six-second strips.
• Provide rhythm strips to RNs for interpretation and mounting on patient charts.
• Maintain monitor logs with rhythm interpretations and parameter changes.
• Communicate significant rate/rhythm changes to RNs and charge nurses.
• Maintain optimal operation of monitoring equipment.
• Clean cardiac monitoring equipment according to Infection Control and Biomedical Engineering standards.
• Review and maintain a current inventory of monitoring equipment.
• Collaborate with Biomedical Engineering to ensure proper repair and upkeep of monitoring equipment.
• Ensure sufficient monitoring supplies are available at all times.

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Emergency Medical Technician/Critical Care (EMT/CC) or Telemetry certification.
• LPN or RN licensure.
• Preferred qualifications: one year of EMT/CC or Monitor Tech experience, one year of healthcare experience.
