Nuclear Medicine Technologist Lead

This position is responsible for overseeing nuclear medicine exams, ensuring efficiency and accuracy, and maintaining radiation safety techniques and quality control testing. The lead will provide direct supervision to assigned staff, promoting employee satisfaction and maintaining a positive work environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform all duties outlined in the Nuclear Medicine Technologist job description.
- Fill in for staff due to scheduling conflicts, requiring travel and flexibility.
- Assist the Operations Coordinator with front office duties as needed.
- Train, coach, and evaluate assigned staff, maintaining proper documentation and records.
- Ensure all emergency and safety procedures are reviewed and upheld.
- Oversee assigned clients, communicating with management on general information or issues affecting operations, client satisfaction, and staff performance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of policy and procedure manuals, educating staff accordingly.
- Maintain knowledge of and assist in maintaining compliance with radiation safety, diagnostic imaging, and accreditation standards.
- Serve on committees and task forces as assigned.
- Complete projects within designated timeframes.
- Assist with regulatory internal and external audits and inspections.
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency of basic PC applications for Diagnostic Imaging and administration workstations.
- Assist with the setup of new client sites.
Individuals with regular clinical contact with patients demonstrate knowledge and skills in caring for patients of different age groups. This includes the ability to care for and utilize resources for patients to promote a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients in the following age groups: Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
Working ConditionsWork is performed at testing centers, hospitals, clinics, and/or physician offices as required. Technologists must drive to and from the testing facility in all weather conditions. Travel may be extensive, and lifting and carrying isotope cases and computer equipment may be required.
Physical DemandsThe position requires standing (70%), sitting (20%), and walking (10%).
Occupational ExposureThere is limited radiation exposure during nuclear medicine procedures when proper protocol is followed. Performance of clinical job duties has a reasonably anticipated risk factor of occupational exposure to blood-borne pathogens or other infectious materials. Employees are required to use protective equipment.
QualificationsAssociates or Bachelors of Science Degree preferred. Board certification in Nuclear Medicine technology through the ARRT and/or the NMTCB required. Must maintain licensure through continuing education. 5 years of Nuclear Medicine experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred. Valid Driver's license required. Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification.
