Physical Therapy Assistant

At OrthoCarolina, we are seeking a skilled Physical Therapy Assistant to join our team at our Mooresville office. As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with our physical therapists to provide high-quality patient care and support.
Job Summary:The Physical Therapy Assistant will be responsible for applying physical therapy modalities and treatments for orthopedic problems as prescribed by the referring physician. This includes applying ultrasound, electrical stimulation, hot packs, whirlpool, traction, ice, paraffin, iontophoresis, therapeutic massage, and other modalities. The Physical Therapy Assistant will also administer exercise programs and procedures performed within the department, including active and passive exercise, joint and soft tissue mobilization, and gait training. Additionally, the Physical Therapy Assistant will instruct patients in home exercise programs for all diagnoses.
Responsibilities:- Apply physical therapy modalities and treatments as prescribed by the referring physician.
- Administer exercise programs and procedures performed within the department.
- Instruct patients in home exercise programs for all diagnoses.
- Perform duties to maintain an orderly department, including cleaning of treatment tables, whirlpools, and surrounding work areas, and stocking of treatment areas with linen and supplies.
- Supervise patient exercise programs on Cybex equipment, isotonic and aerobic equipment.
- Write daily progress notes and when necessary, progress notes to the physicians.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a strong understanding of physical therapy principles and practices. You will also need to be able to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with patients and healthcare professionals. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and a Physical Therapy Assistant certification is preferred.
