Job Requirements

Education

A minimum of an A.S. degree from a two-year or longer AMA-approved respiratory therapy program is required. Licensure as a respiratory therapist in the state of Arkansas is also necessary.

Experience

Previous experience is desirable but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine. They must be able to exercise sound judgment and accept increased responsibility in therapeutic procedures based on patient observation.

Physical Demands

This is a safety-sensitive position. Please refer to the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information.

The normal hospital environment requires normal/corrected eyesight and full range of hearing. The respiratory therapist will operate various respiratory equipment, including computers, IPPB, CPAP, BIPAP, and others. They will also lift and carry up to 30lbs and push/pull up to 70lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking are required.

Job Summary

Under general supervision, the respiratory therapist prepares treatment medications, administers prescribed treatments, and performs various departmental procedures and duties.
