Overnight Cleaning Specialist - Full Time

Mennonite Village is a distinguished not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) with a rich history of over 70 years. We are currently in search of an Overnight Cleaning Specialist who will be tasked with the routine maintenance of floors and conducting rounds throughout the campus to deter unauthorized access, utilizing a vehicle provided by Mennonite Village. The ideal candidate will demonstrate care, sound judgment, and safe work practices in all assigned duties. This role requires adherence to the established safety protocols, policies, and procedures of the Housekeeping Department while collaborating with fellow employees and residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform dry mopping of all hallways and communal areas.
  • Vacuum all entryway carpet mats.
  • Daily scrubbing of hallways and public spaces using the floor machine.
  • Maintain the floor machine, ensuring it is cleaned and recharged regularly.
  • Buff all hallways on a weekly basis.
  • Scrub and recoat floors with wax every three months.
  • Strip and refinish floors as necessary.
  • Coordinate with affected parties to schedule maintenance tasks.
  • Keep an inventory of necessary supplies on the personal work cart and place orders as needed.
  • Document completed tasks on provided forms each night and submit them to the housekeeping supervisor.
  • Schedule and clean nursing equipment such as wheelchairs and geri-chairs.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this role.

All employees are expected to comply with the Mennonite Village Compliance and Privacy Program, as well as the Values and Expectations Statement. Adherence to HIPAA policies is mandatory, and any breaches must be reported to a supervisor. Hazards or unsafe conditions should be reported immediately, along with any adverse events or near misses. Participation in mandatory annual training on HIPAA and compliance is required.

Qualifications:

  • Supportive of the Mennonite Home philosophy.
  • Proven knowledge in floor maintenance and operation of related equipment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently under general guidelines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Physical capability to push equipment weighing up to 80 pounds, along with the ability to stoop, bend, and lift equipment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in varying temperatures and environments.
  • Familiarity with Materials Safety Data Sheets for the proper handling and disposal of hazardous chemicals.
