Job Summary

The Arc of Southwest Georgia is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional to join our team. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a positive role model and communicate effectively with individuals served.
  • Complete tasks accurately and on time, ensuring a smooth and efficient work environment.
  • Accommodate shift changes to meet individual served/staff ratio requirements.
  • Assist individuals served in making community connections and ensuring a presence in their community.
  • Manage crisis situations and respond to emergency medical situations.
  • Assist individuals served with activities of daily living, such as self-administration of medication, hygiene, and personal care.
  • Prepare individuals for nighttime/overnight routine when specified.
  • Implement Behavioral Management and Safety Plans, and document data.
  • Effectively carry out ISP goals, meeting frequently with case managers and documenting progress notes and goal data.
  • Perform household cleaning and general management duties, and conduct environmental checks.
  • Operate a motorized vehicle and provide transportation for individuals served to public settings, providing supports and supervising for safety.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to compliance regulations.
  • Complete reports as required and accurately document all services on the day they occur.
  • Submit documentation to immediate supervisors on a weekly basis or as needed.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and function as part of the individual(s) served during meetings.
Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of one (1) year experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferably in a behavior-focused residential home. Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid GA Driver's License, reliable transportation, and car insurance listed as policy holder or listed as a driver on ID Card.
