Job Summary

We are seeking a highly detail-oriented and organized Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team at Kennedy Services. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our schools, administrative buildings, and grounds.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, gymnasiums, halls, and stairs to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students and staff.
  • Collect and dispose of trash and recyclable materials from various areas of the facility.
  • Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and equipment to maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors to ensure a clean and safe environment.
  • Operate powered equipment to scrub and buff floors, vacuum, and apply cleaning solutions to carpeting.
  • Wash windows, display cases, walls, woodwork, and venetian blinds to maintain a high level of cleanliness and organization.
  • Clean and maintain various surfaces, including baseboards, doors, and trim.
  • Check and secure door locks and window latches to ensure the facility is secure.
  • Perform minor repairs to building and equipment, such as replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles.
  • Assist with delivering and unloading instructional and custodial supplies from delivery trucks.
  • Move furniture and other heavy objects as needed.
  • Operate power equipment to cut grass, trim shrubbery, rake and bag leaves, and clear snow and ice from walkways.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions provided in English.
  • Ability to operate custodial and grounds care equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the methods and practices of custodial work.
  • Ability to work overtime or weekends and respond to call to work in advance of regular hours for weather events and other emergency situations.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
