Position Summary
The educator in Early Childhood is tasked with fostering an environment that encourages the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children in their designated classes. The individual is expected to collaborate with colleagues to create engaging lesson plans and effectively implement them in the classroom setting. Cooperation with co-teachers, site personnel, and the site leader is essential for a successful educational experience.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • High School diploma is mandatory, with college coursework in early childhood education or a related discipline.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential is required.
  • An Associate or Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
  • CPR certification is required, or the willingness to obtain it within the first six months of employment.
  • Completion of a Tuberculosis test, Covid-19 test, and physical examination, along with physician documentation.
  • Must pass various background checks, including those conducted by the Department of Human Services and the Michigan State Police Department.
Skills and Competencies
  • Understanding of age-appropriate activities and child development theories and practices.
  • Awareness of safety protocols related to young children.
  • Ability to design innovative lesson plans for children aged 2-4 years.
Responsibilities
  • Punctuality in attending work, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Exhibit professionalism in attendance, demeanor, and appearance.
  • Develop, present, and assess suitable lesson plans.
  • Oversee all classroom activities and daily routines.
  • Assist co-teachers with daily preparation and classroom maintenance.
  • Participate in site lesson plan preparation on a rotating schedule.
  • Engage in monthly lesson plan meetings and contribute ideas.
  • Timely submission of supply requests and work orders to the Site Leader.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and fellow staff members.
  • Build nurturing relationships with children while serving as a positive role model.
  • Encourage individuality and positive self-esteem in children.
  • Responsible for completing designated housekeeping tasks within the preschool setting.
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of professional development training annually.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification biannually.
  • Adhere to all job responsibilities in accordance with the CCLC program guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with co-workers and other departments.
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $17.00 per hour
