Job Overview

Caterpillar Corner Childcare is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Preschool Teacher to join our team in Pontiac, MI. As a key member of our early childhood education team, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where preschoolers (ages 2-4) can learn and grow.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to develop and implement creative lesson plans that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
  • Supervise children during daily activities and routines, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and organized learning environment by preparing and cleaning up the classroom.
  • Participate in monthly lesson planning meetings and contribute ideas to enhance the curriculum.
  • Build positive relationships with children, fostering their individuality and self-esteem.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other staff members to ensure a collaborative and supportive environment.
  • Complete assigned housekeeping duties to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain CPR/First Aid certification and adhere to program guidelines.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with young children (preferred).
  • Basic understanding of child development principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team.
  • Reliable transportation and availability to work an 8-hour shift.
  • CPR certified (or willingness to obtain certification within 6 months).
  • Negative TB test, COVID-19 test, and willingness to complete a physical and background check.
