SENIOR INTEGRATION ENGINEER, MERLIN FINAL ASSEMBLY

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee a team of engineers in the final assembly and testing of the Merlin M1D and MVacD Engines, along with the Stage 1 Engine Section.
  • Guide and nurture the professional growth of engineers from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Establish a strategic vision for the manufacturing engineering team to tackle challenges and ensure production aligns with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, subject matter experts, technicians, and leadership to address large-scale production issues.
  • Work alongside design engineering leadership to assess system-level modifications for manufacturing and partner on execution strategies.
  • Engage with engineers and technicians to enhance manufacturing processes and automation.
  • Analyze non-conformances to identify root causes and develop actionable solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in design for manufacturability initiatives to enhance manufacturing workflows.
  • Supervise the development and optimization of projects and new methodologies to improve safety, vehicle reliability, meet production targets, and reduce costs.
  • Identify and eliminate inefficiencies; streamline production workflows, and foster continuous improvement.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years of professional engineering experience in automotive, aviation, or aerospace manufacturing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience transitioning teams and processes from development to production.
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) with engineering and production teams.
  • Master's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Understanding of fundamental principles in chemistry, engineering, fluid dynamics, and material mechanics.
  • Proven track record of successfully completing significant projects in manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding principles and non-destructive testing techniques for material assessment.
  • Experience in process development, linear flow production, PFMEA, and error-proofing methodologies.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Project management experience for technical teams.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This is a hands-on role that may involve standing for extended periods and working directly with hardware.
  • Comfort with physical activities such as stooping, bending, and standing is essential.
  • Must be eligible to pass background checks as required.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends and extended hours as needed.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Salary range:

Senior Integration Engineer: $125,000 - $175,000 annually.

Your specific level and base salary will be determined on an individual basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also qualify for long-term incentives, such as company stock, stock options, or cash awards, along with potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks are also included. Employees accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and are eligible for 10 or more paid holidays annually. Exempt employees receive 5 days of sick leave per year.
