Your main duty will be to maintain and repair various utilities equipment and specialized support systems. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting inspections and repairs on electrical systems for air conditioning and refrigeration units.

  • Replacing worn gaskets and seals in watertight electrical devices.
  • Repairing gasoline engine systems and portable heater fuel/electrical systems.
  • Overseeing the recharging of fire extinguishers and maintaining their valves.

With additional certifications, this specialty may also lead to opportunities for self-employment as a repair technician for electrical tools and equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

Instead of incurring costs for training, you will receive a paycheck while you learn. The Army National Guard offers a structured training program that includes:
  • 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational soldiering skills.
  • 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training focused on electrical product repair.
