We are seeking a skilled Accountant to support senior accounting personnel with various responsibilities related to financial operations within educational institutions. Key Responsibilities:
- Generate monthly financial reports for multiple entities, which involves:
- Reconciling bank statements and cash accounts.
- Preparing and posting necessary journal entries.
- Reviewing and reconciling all balance sheet accounts.
- Summarizing significant events and budget discrepancies.
- Compiling supporting documentation, including balance sheet schedules and reconciliations for financial statements and the annual budget process.
- Processing incoming invoices and payments, ensuring accurate entry into accounting systems.
- Conduct daily and month-end closing procedures, reconciling Balance Sheet accounts and preparing daily Treasury Reports.
- Collaborate with independent auditors during the annual financial statement audit, preparing schedules and invoices, and providing explanations of supporting materials and procedures.
- Assist with all audits, whether internal or external, related to Financial Statements, Sales Tax, Workers Compensation, etc.
- Maintain comprehensive records of all financial documents with appropriate supporting materials; update records as necessary.
- Post transactions to the General Ledger, including but not limited to:
- Accounts Receivable.
- Cash Receipts.
- Accounts Payable.
- Cash Disbursements.
- Payroll.
- Adhere to all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, management, clients, and educational institutions in a professional manner.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in Charter Schools or the K-12 sector is preferred.
- Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to the company's mission and values.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Experience in preparing and analyzing complex financial reports.
- Establish and maintain operating principles and routines, ensuring high-quality project completion.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality, with a willingness to receive feedback for performance improvement.
- Proactive in seeking ways to enhance quality and accuracy, while researching and implementing best practices.
- High level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures.
- Understanding of federal, state, and local regulations for K-12 schools and charter school law.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience with QuickBooks.
- Basic computer skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
