Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the total estimating effort for specific bids or projects.
  • Provide complete conceptual and final estimating input on complex projects.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of project estimates.
  • Incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports into unit and man-hour figures.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating a complete takeoff of the scope of work using estimating software.
  • Identify risks related to estimates to ensure provisions are made in the tender.
  • Ensure estimates are thorough, well-organized, and ready for review before deadlines.
  • Maintain files of working documents as backups.
  • Coordinate with field operations on successful bids to ensure a smooth transition to the project team.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior estimators and other members of the Preconstruction group.


Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years of experience in estimating, cost control, and/or engineering related to electrical construction.
  • Proven track record in estimating and negotiating large, complex projects.
  • Thorough understanding of company procedures, estimating techniques, and estimating software.
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and supervise group efforts.
  • Exceptional technical, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Accubid and Accubid Live Count Software is beneficial but not mandatory.
