Job Summary:

The Department of English at the University of South Carolina, Columbia campus, is seeking applications for a tenure-track, full-time, 9-month faculty position in Technical and Professional Communication at the rank of Assistant Professor. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2025.

We are looking for an innovative scholar in Technical and Professional Communication whose research engages with one or more of the following themes:

  • Global and transnational communication and rhetoric
  • Diversity, social advocacy, or social justice
  • Enhancement of information design and communication for marginalized communities
  • Multilingualism or global Englishes
  • Health and medical rhetoric
  • Disability studies and inclusive design
  • Feminist perspectives
  • Research methodologies
  • Teaching pedagogies in Technical and Professional Communication
  • Writing in the Disciplines/Writing Across the Curriculum

Demonstrated ability to conduct high-quality research is essential. The successful candidate will contribute to our undergraduate programs, which include a concentration in Writing and a minor in Professional Writing and Communication, as well as our graduate programs in Composition and Rhetoric.

Educational Requirements:

A Ph.D. in a relevant field must be completed by the anticipated start date.
