We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at Lutheran Family Practices. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities- Provide administrative and clinical support to healthcare providers, including preparing patients for exams and procedures.
- Assist with patient intake, vital signs, and medical history documentation.
- Perform routine tests, such as EKGs and hearing and vision screens, as directed by healthcare providers.
- Administer medications and vaccines, and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Communicate test results and patient plans to patients and families, as directed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including medical history, medications, and test results.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and other team members to ensure seamless patient care.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program and/or be a certified Medical Assistant.
- Current BLS Certification required upon hire or within 60 days of hire upon approval.
- Successful completion of initial MA onboarding program within 90 days, annual skills fair, and in-services for site-specific tasks.
- One (1) year Medical Assistant experience.
- At least three (3) months of previous experience in healthcare.
This position requires regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts. The employee must be able to understand and apply information, policies, procedures, and skills required by the position.
Physical RequirementsThe employee must be able to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. The employee must also be able to verbally communicate and hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers is required to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. The employee must also be able to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, and walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
