About the Role

ABM Industries is seeking a skilled HVAC Journeyman Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC equipment and systems for our commercial and industrial customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer Service
    • Provide exceptional customer service and support to our clients, ensuring their satisfaction with our services.
  • Equipment Maintenance
    • Maintain and repair HVAC equipment and systems, including electronic, mechanical, and electrical components.
    • Diagnose and repair complex issues with HVAC systems.
  • Dispatch and Scheduling
    • Work with dispatch to ensure efficient scheduling and minimize delays.
  • Emergency Response
    • Respond promptly to emergency service requests from our customers.
  • Vehicle Maintenance
    • Maintain the good working order of company vehicles, including refueling and reporting any mechanical issues.
  • Inventory Management
    • Ensure proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment are maintained in company vehicles.
  • Documentation
    • Document all equipment installations, including make, model, serial number, and test measurements.
  • Communication
    • Communicate effectively with dispatch, parts procurement, supervisors, and managers to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Reporting
    • Submit detailed, complete, and timely reporting on work progressions.
  • Training and Development
    • Participate in company-provided training opportunities to stay up-to-date on the latest industry technologies.
  • Business Development
    • Identify and report potential opportunities for additional business to supervisors or managers.
  • Preventive Maintenance
    • Ensure the performance of preventive maintenance on all building equipment is completed within the allotted schedule.
  • System Efficiency
    • Ensure efficient operation of all building systems.
  • Vendor Management
    • Coordinate maintenance with outside vendors and oversee vendor maintenance.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ensure strict adherence to critical facility work rules and safety procedures.
  • Regulatory Knowledge
    • Be familiar with all applicable Federal, State, and local rules, codes, and regulations.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • 2+ years of HVAC Journeyman experience (up to 5 years preferred).
  • CFC Certification preferred.
  • Experience managing equipment vendors and maintenance contractors preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding customer relations skills.
  • Proven ability to make independent decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience using basic computer skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Safety-oriented.
  • Must have outstanding analytical, negotiating, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team to ensure customer satisfaction.

Work Environment

The employee will be required to sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Standing and walking are required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders for site access and occasionally tolerate exposure to heights during jobsite visits.
