About the Job

The Paralegal Specialist provides critical support to judges, Army lawyers, and unit commanders with legal matters and judicial work. This role involves assisting with legal documents, research, and administrative tasks in areas like family law, international law, contract law, and defense legal services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review legal documents for courts-martial and other military justice matters
  • Assist with legal affairs, such as power of attorney, wills, and separation decrees
  • Provide technical guidance to subordinates and maintain law/administrative library
  • Monitor and review actions for accuracy

Training and Benefits

As a Paralegal Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will receive 10 weeks of Basic Training and 10 weeks of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction. You will also be eligible for paid training, a monthly paycheck, and benefits like the Montgomery GI Bill, federal and state tuition assistance, and retirement benefits for part-time service.

Requirements

  • Military enlistment in the Army National Guard
  • Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements
