Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Psychiatrist to join our Behavioral Health Department in Butte County. As a key member of our team, you will provide direct psychiatric care and treatment to patients with complex and difficult disorders, conducting evaluations, formulating diagnoses, and determining therapeutic and medical needs.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients to determine therapeutic and medical needs, developing treatment plans and participating in case conferences.
  • Conduct psychiatric evaluations, formulate diagnoses, and determine therapeutic and medical needs of patients, prescribing treatment as necessary.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation of patient evaluations, prognosis, progress, and treatment, consistent with Medi-Cal standards.
  • Perform crisis intervention as required, assisting clinical staff in mitigating crisis situations and prescribing and administering medication to patients in crisis situations.
  • Evaluate patients for voluntary and involuntary commitment, signing commitment for clients requiring hospitalization.
  • Provide direction and training for assigned staff, interns, and/or residents, participating in staff, intern, and/or resident training and quality assurance.
  • Develop, follow, and instruct others in appropriate medical protocols.
  • Perform detailed patient record documentation, preparing intake and discharge summaries, clinical and progress notes, and treatment plans.
  • Provide expert witness court testimony and consultation to various child and adult service programs and agencies.
  • Serve on utilization review, quality assurance, and other committees defined in by-laws.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to graduation from an American Medical Association certified school of medicine or osteopathy in good standing, and successful completion of an approved residency.
  • Valid license to practice medicine in the State of California and board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the American Osteopathic Association.
  • Ability to work in a standard office, out-patient, clinic, jail, or juvenile facility environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances.
