Plant Operations Engineer

The Operating Engineer - Plant position at Kaiser Permanente is responsible for performing routine and skilled preventive maintenance duties in the repair, alteration, and modification of buildings, equipment, and facilities. This role requires a strong understanding of building automation systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect equipment and facilities for proper operation and working condition.
- Maintain routine records and determine the type and extent of any malfunction of equipment.
- Adjust, disassemble, and repair or replace parts or components, reassemble, and test for proper operation.
- Report more serious problems to the Chief Engineer for instructions or maintenance scheduling.
- Perform a variety of general semi-skilled to skilled maintenance, alteration, and repairs to machinery, equipment, or facilities as assigned or in accordance with basic skills and abilities, and standard procedures, diagrams, or manufacturer instructions.
Requirements:
- Three to five years of experience in building plant operations and maintenance.
- Associate of Arts Degree in Engineering or technical disciplines in plant operations, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or equivalent.
- Steam Engineer Unlimited License (California) or Los Angeles Steam Engineer 500 HP License.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical manuals.
Working Environment:
This role requires the ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment and to establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with other personnel, Health Plan members, and the public.
