Job Title: Produce Prescription Assistant

Job Summary:

The Produce Prescription Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the design and implementation of educational opportunities to promote healthy eating habits in Hampshire County's Food Desert Communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contact eligible participants to enroll them in About Fresh's Fresh Connect card and obtain informed consent.
  • Provide support to enrolled participants via phone, text, and email to collect survey responses and conduct outreach for educational workshops.
  • Manage and enter quantitative and qualitative data using survey and statistical processing software.
  • Support the development of educational materials and opportunities that promote behavior change around healthy eating.
  • Work closely with program directors, UMass EmCON faculty, Hilltown Community Health Center staff, and About Fresh in a collaborative team.
  • Contribute to reports, academic publications, and presentations developed over the course of the 3-year study.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work with diverse personalities and populations.
  • Skilled in working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to communicate and converse effectively in real time with people from multiple backgrounds and cultures.
  • Comfort with learning and then using statistical processing software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual - English/Spanish.
  • Coursework or extracurricular background in supporting healthy behaviors, especially healthy eating.
  • Experience working with low-income communities and/or food insecure individuals.
  • Ability to travel throughout Hampshire County, including to remote areas with no public transportation.

Work Environment:

The Produce Prescription Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment with a collaborative team. The position requires frequent meetings and social interaction, as well as the ability to work at home and in the field. In-state travel may be required.

Terms of Employment:

This is a temporary position with an average of 10 hours of work per week anticipated. Compensation is $16/hour.
