About the Role

The Ponca Tribe of Nebraska is seeking a highly skilled Licensed Mental Health & Substance Use Therapist to join our team. As a key member of our Behavioral Health Department, you will play a vital role in providing culturally sensitive mental health and substance abuse counseling services to individuals and families.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide outpatient counseling services to individuals and families in need of mental health interventions.
  2. Lead group therapy sessions as needed.
  3. Conduct mental health, substance use, and co-occurring assessments and provide recommendations through a referral process.
  4. Collaborate with primary care providers to enhance understanding of patients, provide decision support for treatment planning, and assist in implementing and monitoring biopsychosocial treatment plans.
  5. Utilize evidence-based therapeutic interventions effectively.
  6. Work with a multidisciplinary team to inform treatment planning and advocate on behalf of clients.
  7. Collaborate with other agencies, such as the criminal justice system, to advocate on behalf of clients.
  8. Collaborate with other Tribal departments to advocate on behalf of clients.
  9. Maintain accurate and timely clinical records, including progress notes, reports, assessments, treatment plans, and discharge summaries.
  10. Maintain professional credentials and continuing education as specified by state licensure.
  11. Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
  12. Perform additional duties as assigned, including training new team members, assisting with grant data collection, and attending grant recipient award meetings.
Requirements
  • Masters in Counseling or Social Work.
  • Provisionally Licensed Mental Health Provider.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol testing, motor vehicle, education, character, and criminal background checks.
  • Willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two or more years of experience in providing individual, family, and group counseling.
  • Fully licensed or independently licensed Mental Health Provider.
  • Licensed or provisionally licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor.
  • One year of experience working with Native Americans or Native American organizations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Public Law 93-638: Indian Self-Determination Act.
Working Environment and Physical Demands

This position is in a professional office environment and requires standard office equipment usage.

Preference

Preference will be given to Ponca Tribe of Nebraska members or members of a federally recognized tribe. However, all qualified individuals are eligible.
