Position Title: IP Optical Engineer
Overview: We are seeking a skilled professional with expertise in wireless technologies and a solid understanding of IP networking, spanning from Layer 1 to Layer 3.
Key Responsibilities:
- Configure wireless cell site routers, specifically utilizing Ciena and Cisco equipment.
- Collaborate with a team of transport engineers to assess and enhance the transport network, including fronthaul, backhaul, and microwave systems.
- Design and issue work orders for new cell sites and existing MSC growth, incorporating LTE and C-band carrier additions.
- Oversee multiple transport solutions, ensuring technical excellence and end-to-end management.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience is required.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in transport design within the telecommunications sector.
- Proficient knowledge of CWDM/DWDM optical transport systems, including Ciena, Nokia, and Cisco technologies.
- Experience with dark fiber vendor processes and network mapping.
- Familiarity with microwave design software and circuit database tracking.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a willingness to travel as needed for project coordination.
Goals of the Role:
- Minimize costs associated with direct telecom expenses.
- Develop a monthly interconnect implementation plan to enhance ethernet backhaul bandwidth to 10G.
- Facilitate the migration of core network connectivity to 100G NNI paths.
- Manage telecommunications vendors to achieve targeted network milestones.
- Participate in project update meetings to provide technical insights and facilitate work orders for field engineering teams.
