Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist to join our Cardiovascular Operating Room team at Emory Healthcare. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical technology and experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The Surgical Technologist will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, maintaining aseptic technique, and assisting surgeons and nurses during procedures. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for surgery by assembling and sterilizing equipment, preparing surgical sites, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available.
  • Assist surgeons and nurses during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining aseptic technique, and providing support as needed.
  • Monitor patients' vital signs and report any changes or concerns to the surgical team.
  • Maintain a clean and organized operating room environment, adhering to infection control protocols and ensuring that all equipment is properly sterilized.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure that all procedures are completed safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a degree in surgical technology or a related field is preferred.
  • Two years of experience as a surgical technologist, preferably in a cardiovascular operating room setting.
  • Certification in surgical technology is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain aseptic technique.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time.
Work Environment

The Surgical Technologist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a high level of patient acuity. The operating room is a sterile environment that requires attention to detail and adherence to infection control protocols. The Surgical Technologist will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
