Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the management and administrative functions of the laboratory.
- Develop and implement policies while ensuring regulatory compliance and quality assurance.
- Supervise laboratory supervisors, clinical staff, and support personnel.
Essential Skills:
- Expertise in managing and authoring laboratory processes and procedures.
- Ability to train and present technical information effectively to staff.
- Experience in quality assurance and quality control within laboratory settings.
- Fiscal management and budgeting capabilities.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Evaluate laboratory operations in consultation with pathologists and ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Maintain medical laboratory equipment performance through effective operations and troubleshooting procedures.
- Manage inventory levels of medical laboratory supplies and anticipate future needs.
- Monitor laboratory productivity and identify workload trends.
- Participate in the hospital's quality assurance initiatives and conduct proficiency surveys.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate laboratory staff while ensuring compliance with continuing education requirements.
- Contribute to benchwork as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology or a related field.
- Preferred certifications: MLS(ASCP), SBB(ASCP).
- A minimum of two years of experience in a leadership role within a laboratory setting.
