Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Registered Nurse in the Cath Lab, you will:
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and all healthcare team members involved in the pre, intra, and post-procedural care of adult cardiac catheterization patients.
- Participate in various procedures including angioplasty, coronary stenting, balloon valvuloplasty, Swan Ganz/right heart catheterization, and pericardiocentesis.
- Facilitate patient transport to and from recovery and inpatient units.
- Administer intravenous and oral medications as prescribed.
- Manage patients under procedural sedation.
- Utilize physiologic recording equipment to monitor electrocardiograms and hemodynamic data, addressing any equipment issues as necessary.
- Operate intra-aortic balloons and Impella devices, troubleshooting as needed.
- Continuously monitor patients during cardiac catheterization procedures, participating in emergency interventions such as defibrillation and CPR when required.
- Ensure all procedural rooms are adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Exhibit proficiency in procedures including angioplasty, coronary stenting, and recognition of cardiac rhythms.
- Apply nursing principles to assess, diagnose, treat, and evaluate patient responses to health conditions and interventions.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless patient care.
- Document and report patient care interventions and responses, adhering to safety protocols.
- Follow established policies and procedures as per Hudson Regional Hospital's nursing regulations.
- Demonstrate accountability and pride in your work, showcasing flexibility and adaptability.
- Incorporate patient education and discharge planning to optimize health outcomes.
- Coordinate discharge planning and referrals to ensure continuity of care post-discharge.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Recent experience in providing direct nursing care in cardiovascular settings or operating rooms.
- A proven track record of positive interactions with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- A degree from an accredited School of Nursing; a BSN is preferred.
- A valid RN license in the state of New Jersey.
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
