About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Culinary Specialist to join our team at the Royal Gorge Route Railroad. As a key member of our food service team, you will be responsible for preparing and serving high-quality food and beverages to our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Quality Control: Assume 100% responsibility for the quality of products served, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards.
  • Inventory Management: Stock and maintain sufficient levels of food products at each train kitchen to ensure a smooth service period.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and sanitary work station area, including tables, shelves, grills, panini grills, fryers, microwaves, saut burners, convection oven, flat top range, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, handling, storing, and rotating all products properly, and assisting in food prep assignments at the depot during off-peak periods as needed.
Requirements
  • Education: Prior cooking experience in a restaurant is preferred but not required.
  • Skills: English language and professional communication skills are required, as well as the ability to take direction and work under moderate supervision.
Working Conditions

This position will spend 98% of the time standing and 2% of the time sitting. You will be working in a fast-paced environment, constantly moving, with occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water. You must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
