Athletic Trainer or Licensed Practical Nurse Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer or Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team in the Department of Orthopaedic Sports Medicine. The successful candidate will provide routine care of athletic injuries, assist physicians in clinical and hospital settings, and demonstrate exceptional observational skills, clinical empathy, and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Care and prevention of athletic injuries in the clinical setting
  • Standard patient care, including rooming patients and collecting medical history
  • Answering phone calls, completing patient forms, and acquiring authorizations
  • Providing direct support to physicians in minor procedures and joint aspirations/injections
  • Wound care, stitch removal, and dressing changes
  • Preparing clinics, updating charts, and coordinating patient referrals
  • DME fitting, casting patients, and removal of casts
  • Stocking and cleaning rooms daily, ordering supplies/medications as needed
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training from a CAATE-accredited program (required)
  • Master's degree from a CAATE-accredited program (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in athletic training in a clinical setting (preferred)
  • Licensed in the State of Pennsylvania, ATC (required)
  • Board of Certification (BOC) Certified (required)
  • BLS/CPR certification as a healthcare provider (required)
