Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dietetic Technician to join our team at Yale New Haven Health. As a key member of our nutrition team, you will play a vital role in ensuring that patients receive safe and appropriate food and nutrition services.

Responsibilities
  • Process patient calls quickly and accurately, adhering to phone scripts and demonstrating excellent customer service skills.
  • Assist dietitians in the nutritional management and care of patients throughout the life cycle, ensuring that meal selections are provided based on medical needs and individual patient preferences.
  • Work on-site in call centers, directly with patients at the bedside, or as remote call center nutrition professionals, utilizing effective organizational and communication skills to prioritize patient demands and minimize time spent in not ready mode.
  • Accurately correct patient menu selections via computerized diet systems, taking into account therapeutic restrictions, space limitations, menu glossary guidelines, age-specific needs, and patient preferences.
  • Participate in all inservice training programs to remain current in professional knowledge and clinical skills, and assist in establishing, communicating, and implementing policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Must be enrolled in or seeking an associate degree (AS) for dietetic technician, health science, healthcare, or culinary arts program.
  • BA/BS/AS in related studies (may be in progress or have recently completed courses). Equivalent combination and experience in related fields.
  • Registered dietetic technician preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal (both oral and written) communication skills required. Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner required.
  • Ability to use computers for computerized diet order entry and menu systems required.
