Job Description

Apple is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to join the Mac Engineering Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing electrical systems for our high-volume consumer electronics products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for Mac products, including schematic design, component selection, and PCB layout.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive design tradeoffs across manufacturing, test, thermal, performance, reliability, battery life, and electrical stakeholders.
  • Prototype and debug electrical systems using advanced lab tools, such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and BERT scopes.
  • Review and analyze factory test fixtures and manufacturing data to ensure design quality and robustness.
  • Debug problems found in manufacturing and provide corrective action to design or manufacturing process.
  • Forecast and plan design time to meet constrained schedules and communicate status on concurrent top issues and timelines.
Requirements
  • BS in electrical or computer engineering required, MS preferred.
  • Experience with schematic, PCB physical design using Cadence Concept and Allegro or similar CAD tools.
  • Design experience in digital logic, simulation, power conversion and delivery, high-speed serial and memory interfaces including signal integrity design and measurement fundamentals with oscilloscopes.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant industry experience, high-volume consumer electronics system experience preferred.
  • Lab skills: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, electronic loads.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Command line interface and scripting skills.
  • Specific deep expertise in several of the following areas is a plus: CPU or GPU microarchitecture, batteries, power management, analog design, audio, wireless, DisplayPort, PCIe, Thunderbolt, USB, SPI, I2C, UART, analog sensors, interconnect.
  • Statistical data analysis and visualization (ex. JMP) is a plus.
