About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Child Life Specialist to join our team at Duke Health. As a key member of our pediatric care team, you will play a vital role in supporting the emotional and developmental needs of children and adolescents facing cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to support children and families in coping with cancer diagnosis and treatment.
  • Lead education sessions with families to promote understanding and communication about cancer diagnosis, treatments, and side effects.
  • Facilitate a monthly support program, KidsCan, for children and teens to share their experiences and build relationships with peers.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care and support for pediatric patients and families.
  • Document interactions and progress in medical records.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Counseling, Special Education, or a related field.
  • One year of experience working with hospitalized children or in an educational training program.
  • Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) certification required.
