Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at Northside Christian Health Center. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Access Control and Monitoring
    • Monitor and control building access by greeting all incoming patients/visitors and directing them to the pertinent registration area.
    • Assist with walk-in requests, direct/assist patients in completing necessary forms, and reassure patients that their request will be addressed.
  • Surveillance and Response
    • Monitor surveillance systems (CCTV) and alarms to identify/report/respond to suspicious activity, including unauthorized vehicles, people moving through restricted areas, and patients who seem lost or aggressive.
    • Alert the Facilities/Security Manager and/or Clinical Director and/or COO when appropriate and contact 911 if needed.
  • Security and Maintenance
    • Keep all windows, doors, stairwells, offices, clinical, and storage spaces secure.
    • Conduct routine rounds of premises during business hours and document rounds, reporting any concerning observations to the Facilities/Security Manager and COO.
  • Conflict Resolution and De-escalation
    • De-escalate and provide verbal warnings to difficult patients/family members in the building who violate visitor conduct policy.
    • Escort individuals out of the building if necessary and alert the Facilities/Security Manager and COO.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Provide backup to the Facilities/Security Manager when the Manager is not on site.
    • Conduct risk assessments of premises, identifying any risks or potential risks that may compromise life safety, building safety, and/or the integrity of the building.
    • Collaborate with the Facilities/Security Manager and Chief Operations Officer in the development and improvement of safety processes and procedures, including safety training for staff.
  • Reporting and Documentation
    • Respond to calls for assistance, crisis, alarms, elevator shutdowns, and emergency situations, and call for help when needed.
    • Submit timely occurrence/incident reports and service requests.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • Previous experience as a Security or Police Officer required.
  • Certifications and Clearances
    • Act 33 with renewal.
    • Act 34 with renewal.
    • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent people and customer service skills.
    • Keen observation skills.
    • Ability to accurately relay information and communicate, both verbally and in writing, in a tactful and courteous manner with peers, department management, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
