About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team at Petco. As a key member of our veterinary care team, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our veterinarians.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal welfare and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care. In this role, you will assist with routine and emergency appointments, perform laboratory tests, handle medications, and maintain accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet clients and patients, obtain vital signs, and record information in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia's.
  • Perform patient restraint, process laboratory samples, and dispense medications as directed by the veterinarian.
  • Schedule appointments, communicate with clients, and manage accounts receivable.
  • Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures, monitor vital parameters, and provide in-hospital treatments.
Requirements
  • Credentialled Veterinary Technician certification in the state where the hospital is located.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Veterinary Technician or working in a veterinary practice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate and sympathetic, with the ability to maintain a professional attitude in emotional situations.
  • Telephone and computer skills, with a willingness to learn new techniques and treatments.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $60,000 per annum, depending on location and experience. Additionally, you will receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
