Senior Corporate Counsel for Energy Regulation

We are seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel for Energy Regulation to join our team at NYPA Home. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the field of energy regulation and governance, providing strategic legal advice and counsel to our business units.
About the Role
This position involves leading large functional and operational business units with multiple layers and disciplines. You will be responsible for supervising daily operations, providing direction, advice, and counsel to senior management, and maintaining close working relationships with key stakeholders. Additionally, you will ensure smooth workflow and manage relationships with outside law firms, handle matters where the EVP may need to be recused, and represent the Authority legally.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead large functional and operational business units with multiple layers and disciplines.
- Supervise daily operations, provide direction, advice, and counsel to senior management, and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Ensure smooth workflow, manage relationships with outside law firms, and handle matters where the EVP may need to be recused.
- Represent the Authority legally and supervise the Legal Department.
- Participate in the Executive Management Committee and perform duties of Secretary to the Board of Trustees and EDPAB.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have extensive practical experience across multiple disciplines within NYPA and a strong familiarity with NYPA's history, statutory powers, functions, and Public Authorities Law. You will also have the ability to understand and address engineering, scientific, technical, accounting, labor, marketing, environmental, political, and financial issues.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's and Juris Doctorate degrees required.
- Admission to New York State Bar.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in related field preferred.
- Minimum three or more years managerial experience, five years leading a team, or a combination of managerial and leadership experience.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $143,000 $149988 , including comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) matching, and paid time off. Work Environment
This position involves travel among various organization locations. The selected candidate must be willing to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
