Senior Librarian

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Librarian to join our team at the City of Palo Alto Library. As a Senior Librarian, you will play a key role in providing high-quality programs, services, and outreach to our community, particularly in the areas of youth services.

The Senior Librarian will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting programs for children and teens, as well as developing and maintaining collections of materials for these age groups. You will also be responsible for providing reference services, assisting customers with the use of library technology, and collaborating with other City departments and community groups to co-sponsor programs.

• Plan and implement programs for children and teens, including outreach and direct services
• Develop and maintain collections of materials for children and teens, including selection and purchase of materials
• Provide reference services to customers of all ages, including answering complex inquiries and assisting with the use of library technology
• Collaborate with other City departments and community groups to co-sponsor programs and services
• Assist customers with the use of library technology, including computers and other digital resources

• Master's degree in Library and Information Science
• Three years of professional experience as a librarian
• Strong knowledge of children's and teen literature, as well as programming and outreach techniques
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
