Job Summary

The City and County of San Francisco is seeking a skilled Psychiatric Technician to join our team. As a Psychiatric Technician, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide basic nursing care to patients, including administering medications and treatments, taking vital signs, and documenting patient information.
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary treatment team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Assist patients with daily living activities, such as feeding, clothing, and toileting, and promote independence in performing activities of daily living.
  • Help create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, recognizing early symptoms of escalation and at-risk behavior, and using appropriate interventions to de-escalate situations.
  • Participate in orientation and in-service training programs to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
  • Possession of a valid Psychiatric Technician license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
