Position Overview: As a Line Technician within the Kinetic construction and engineering division, your responsibilities will include the installation, repair, and maintenance of poles, cables, and conduits. You will be tasked with installing both aerial and buried cables, utilizing necessary hardware to complete projects, and running fiber optic and copper cables through various infrastructures, including manholes.

Your role will also involve ensuring crew safety by providing guidance on procedures, road safety, and manhole safety. Responsibilities include attending safety meetings, managing inventory, conducting DOT vehicle inspections, operating heavy machinery, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

This position may require working on weekends, holidays, standby, and unscheduled hours, as well as overtime. Travel exceeding 50% may be necessary. This is a safety-sensitive role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, repair, and maintain poles and associated equipment.
  • Utilize electronic testing equipment to assess signal strength.
  • Interpret staking sheets and blueprints for installation projects.
  • Install aerial cables (fiber and copper) and conduct inspections to analyze and document test results.
  • Set up customer services by installing, connecting, testing, or adjusting equipment.
  • Access specific areas to string lines or install terminal boxes and auxiliary equipment using bucket trucks or by climbing poles.
  • Pull cables between structures and maintain proper tension using jacks and hoists.
  • Dig trenches for underground installations and perform work in accordance with industry standards.
  • Prepare engineering field notes and interpret telecom facilities in records and maps.
  • Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processes as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to operate various construction equipment, including digger derricks and bucket trucks.
  • Certification in pole climbing.
  • Physical capability to lift/push/pull up to 75 pounds.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to pass DOT certification pre-hire.
  • Exceptional time-management skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of OSHA 10 Hour Safety Course and Buck Squeeze (Pole Climbing Certifications).
  • Proficiency in operating various construction equipment.
