Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver prompt service through our onsite pharmacy
    • Manage incoming new prescriptions, refills, and transfers efficiently.
    • Guarantee the accuracy, safety, and effectiveness of dispensed medications through thorough drug utilization reviews, interpretation of provider orders, and prescription verification.
    • Contribute to the provision of timely, quality care by collaborating with the team in various tasks, including answering phones, counting prescriptions, processing orders, and other necessary functions to ensure exceptional service.
    • Organize and oversee pharmacy workflow to deliver outstanding care.
    • Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge, supervising pharmacy staff engaged in prescription preparation and labeling; verify order entries and modifications.
    • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by adhering to and enforcing established procedures and policies.
    • Initiate prior authorization requests and assist in resolving medication billing issues.
    • Communicate with healthcare providers for prescription clarifications and recommendations.
  • Patient Education and Medication Understanding
    • Provide comprehensive medication counseling to patients to ensure clear understanding of treatment plans, duration, usage instructions, and potential side effects.
    • Ensure medication safety by educating patients on proper storage and disposal methods.
    • Recommend and administer vaccinations as needed.
    • Identify patients facing barriers to medication adherence and assist them in accessing additional support to overcome these challenges.
  • Collaboration for Improved Health Outcomes
    • Utilize professional judgment to assess medication interactions, contraindications, and other precautions, making appropriate recommendations to enhance medication treatment quality.
    • Exhibit responsibility regarding controlled substance prescriptions.
    • Provide pharmacological information by addressing inquiries from other healthcare professionals.
  • Mentorship and Professional Development
    • Instruct, supervise, and educate pharmacy staff and interns to foster their learning and development.
    • Participate in the training of staff and reinforce adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Compliance with Regulatory Standards
    • Operate within regulations, policies, and procedures to maintain compliance in pharmacy operations, including the 340B program, security, and medication disposal.
    • Adhere to state and federal drug laws as mandated by the Board of Pharmacy, DEA, FDA, HRSA, and 340B Program guidelines.
    • Comply with all organizational policies of Lowell CHC.

Qualifications: To perform this role successfully, the individual must meet the following requirements:
  • Education and Experience - A pharmacy degree from an accredited institution and completion of required continuing education credits annually.
  • Licenses and Certifications - A state pharmacist license in good standing, current CPR certification, and certification to administer vaccines.
