The Sales Associate is a key member of the Ocean State Job Lot team, responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a positive shopping experience for all customers. This role involves performing sales transactions, assisting customers on the sales floor, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent customer service, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, handling cash, credit card payments, and other forms of payment.
- Assist customers with finding products, answering questions, and providing product information.
- Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, stock room, and other areas.
- Support merchandising efforts by properly displaying products on shelves and in other areas of the store.
- Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve sales goals and objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous retail customer service experience preferred.
- Basic math and reading skills, legible handwriting, and good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 35 pounds, and move around the store as needed.
Working Conditions:
This position requires working in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. The Sales Associate will be required to stand for long periods, move around the store, and lift up to 35 pounds as needed.
